Membership

Sedgefield Hunt, Inc. is a North Carolina corporation and is governed by a Board of Directors that is elected by voting members (senior or intermediate members or one member of a family membership).  Members are invited to all social functions, including the Opening Day Hunt breakfast, the New Year’s Day party, the Hunt Ball, Performance Trial events, Annual Membership meeting, and various informal activities throughout the year.  Riding members may hunt from October through March, two times per week.  Riding members may also attend without charge the annual hunt school, held during the month of September. 

All riding members must annually sign the Release and Waiver of Liability and Indemnification Agreement, and must have a current Coggins on any horse they intend to hunt.  Parents or guardians of children who wish to hunt must sign the child release agreement.

Each riding member should have a valid hunting license for states in which the Sedgefield Hunt is hunting.

Categories of Membership in the Sedgefield Hunt:

Family Membership – includes all members of an immediate family, is entitled to all privileges of membership, including all hunting and social functions, entitled to one vote per family and shall be eligible to hold office.

Senior Membership – an individual member 33 years or older, is entitled to all privileges of membership, including all hunting and social functions, entitled to one vote and shall be eligible to hold office.

Intermediate Membership – an individual member younger than 33 years, is entitled to all privileges of membership, including all hunting and social functions, entitled to one vote and shall be eligible to hold office.

Junior Membership – an individual younger than 22 years or a full-time student living at home with parents.  Is entitled to all hunting and social functions, but can neither vote nor hold office.

Associate Membership – is entitled to attend all social functions.  Is not entitled to vote and may not hold office.

Capping
Non-members are invited to cap with the Sedgefield Hunt. Unlimited capping is allowed during the October cub hunting season at $35 per hunt. During the formal season (November through March), a non-member may cap up to 3 times at $60 per hunt. Contact the hunt by email if you are interested in capping.

Membership in the Masters of Foxhounds Association

The MFHA is the governing body of organized foxhunting and promotes our sport in an effort to preserve foxhunting in America.  The Sedgefield Hunt encourages its members to join the MFHA through an annual subscribing membership of $35.  Members receive a subscription to Covertside magazine.
